A court has heard steps must be taken before the Biggenden double murder and arson case can proceed, as a DNA report remains outstanding.
Kristen Leslie Olsen, 25, is charged with the murder of Todd Mooney and his daughter Kirra as well as torching a shed on their Fenwicks Rd property in Biggenden on December 20, 2022.
Her matter was mentioned in the Maryborough Magistrates Court today, April 29.
Along with the father and daughter’s alleged murder, Ms Olsen is also charged with one count of arson relating to the fire as well as three individual counts of arson and one count of stealing over an alleged incident on the same day.
No pleas have been entered.
Ms Olsen was not present in court and was represented at the hearing by Bradford Hill from BJH Law, who appeared by telephone.
Detectives have charged Kristen Olsen, 25, with two counts of murder and one of arson.
The court heard a draft order would be prepared and placed before Magistrate John Milburn for approval in an effort to speed up the provision of the forensics statement, which was the only remaining disclosure before the matter could be moved to committal.
It was estimated that a further two months would be needed for the DNA report to be provided, with plans to ask for it to be submitted to the prosecution and defense by June 15.
Acting Magistrate Anna Smith said the order could be drafted and placed before Mr Milburn at the next mention of the matter.
Olsen did not appear and her appearance at the next court date was excused.
The matter was admitted until May 13.
