Murder probe launched after death of man in Port Glasgow

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Inverclyde.

Jack Trainner, 27, was found seriously injured on Brookfield Road, Port Glasgow, at around 9.05pm on Saturday.

Emergency crews attended, but Mr Trainner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland He said an extensive investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances of the incident and an increased police presence will remain in the area as inquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie said: “Jack’s family and friends will continue to be supported throughout our enquiries.

“It’s vital we find out what exactly happened to him and I’m appealing to the public for help to do that.”

An online portal has been set up to allow members of the public to submit information directly to the inquiry team.

DCI McCreadie added: “If you have any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, then please get in touch as soon as you can.

“We would also like to view any private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area and between 6pm and 11pm Saturday.”
