Two Osceola County residents have been charged this week in relation to a Cadillac man’s death early this year.
Michael Peter Hayes and Katelynne Jonelle Hendricks were arraigned in Wexford County’s 84th District Court on April 30, according to a Michigan State Police news release.
Hayes, 45, of LeRoy, is charged with the following:
• One count of first degree premeditated homicide;
• One count of criminal firearms;
• One count of disinterment and mutilation of a dead body,
• One count of concealing the death of an individual; and
• One count of removing a dead body without a medical examiner.
He is being held without bond, the release notes.
Hendricks, 18, of Tustin, is charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact to a felony, and one count of concealing the death of an individual.
The release states that she is being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
“The man’s truck, dog, phone and other personal items were still at his residence in Cadillac. A search of the property was conducted. Troopers located an area behind the house where the ground had been recently disturbed,” the release had stated.
On Feb. 23, detectives obtained a search warrant and started excavating the area.
They reported finding “large chunks of burnt wood, tires, remnants of burnt clothing and a piece of apparent flesh.”
The MSP Grayling Crime Lab was contacted to excavate the hole for more evidence.
“Detectives and lab personnel conducted an excavation of the hole, locating a body. The MSP Computer Crimes Unit assisted at the scene with the collection of digital evidence, since there is a DVR home recording system present along with the victim’s phone,” the release had said.
