GLENWOOD — Two of the top teams in the West Central Conference played baseball Tuesday and the result was one win for Minnewaska and one game suspended after four innings because of rain.
Minnewaska beat Montevideo 4-1 in Game 1, getting a standout performance on the mound from Alex Panitzke. The second game was called with the score 1-1 through four innings.
In Game 1, Panitzke struck out 15 and allowed one hit over seven innings with no walks.
Noah Jensen went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and Panitzke was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lakers.
Cooper Dack went 1-for-2 with a walk for Montevideo.
In Game 2, Jackson Baldwin was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Montevideo. Jensen and Austin Weber were each 1-for-2 for Minnewaska.
Minnewaska plays host to Melrose for a West Central doubleheader at 4 pm Friday at Glenwood. Montevideo plays a West Central game against BOLD at 5 pm Thursday at Bird Island.

Paynesville 0, BBE 0Paynesville and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa played one inning before inclement weather suspended the game at Elrosa.
The two teams plan to resume the Central Minnesota Conference matchup at a later date, according to Paynesville head coach Brad Skoglund.
BBE is scheduled for a CMC doubleheader against Holdingford at noon Wednesday at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud. Paynesville is also scheduled for a CMC doubleheader against Royalton at 4:30 pm Wednesday at Joe Faber Field.
