Yesterday, the Environment Agency issued a flood alert for the Eastern Yar and tributaries from Whitwell and Bembridge, amid a forecast for up to 20mm of rain daily from today (Wednesday) through to Friday, May 3.

“If this rainfall affects the catchment, the river will maintain its responsive nature and levels could rise,” the Environment Agency warns.

An update is expected at 10am this morning.

The Met Office has forecast rainfall for the Island from 3pm today and heavy overnight.

“The water levels throughout the Eastern Yar valley continue to fall slowly,” the Environment Agency added.
