New Delhi: State-owned oil marketing companies on Wednesday announced a reduction in the price of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 19 and a hike in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices by 0.7%, effective immediately. The ATF price in the national capital has been raised by Rs 749.25 per kiloliter to Rs 101,642.88 per kl, according to a price notification from the companies.
This hike reverses the previous 0.5% reduction implemented on April 1. In Mumbai, ATF prices increased to Rs 95,173.70 per kl from Rs 94,466.41. The prices of ATF vary from state to state due to local taxes.
Additionally, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 19 to Rs 1,745.50, marking the second consecutive monthly reduction. In April, the price of the same cylinder was reduced by Rs 30.5. Rates for domestic LPG cylinders, however, remain unchanged at Rs 803 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.
Earlier this year, on February 1 and March 1, commercial LPG prices had risen by Rs 14 and Rs 25.5 per cylinder, respectively, before the first reduction on April 1.
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) review ATF and LPG prices on the first of every month based on international fuel prices and exchange rates.
In March, the government reduced domestic cooking gas prices by Rs 100 and extended the Rs 300 subsidy for LPG cylinders for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries through FY25. Additionally, the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by Rs 2 per liter on March 15, the first such reduction in nearly two years.
