Multiple departments were battling a fire in Campbell Wednesday evening.

CORRECTION: the fire is at a former used car lot and mechanic shop behind 8 Way Tire, not the business itself.

Multiple departments were battling a fire in Campbell Wednesday evening.

Youngstown and Campbell FD are on scene at a mechanic shop building on former used car lot on McCartney Road.

Crews arrived on scene shortly after 8:30 pm, followed by the Coitsville and Poland water tankers, which arrived to assist as a water source.

Police on scene told 21 News they are calling in tankers to provide water because they can’t tap into fire hydrants that are across the street and would block State Route 422.

Police also said the situation was complicated, as firefighters had to deal with some hazardous materials inside the shop. There was even a car inside the building still up on a lift that caught on fire as well.

“It was fully involved,” said Stephen Dubic, Campbell Fire Chief, “fire was through the roof and we already had partial collapse a lot of tires inside, a lot of flammable materials, a lot of gasoline stuff like that.”

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but under investigation.

No injuries have been reported.
