A woman has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder after a Wednesday night shooting left one man dead in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood.
Valerie London-Griffin, 59, was arrested Thursday and is being held for investigation of second-degree murder, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department.
Police believe Wednesday’s shooting was a domestic violence incident and that the suspect and the victim had been fighting before shots were fired, according to Thursday’s release.
Information about the relationship between London-Griffin and the unidentified male victim was not available.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at a home in the 3900 block of North Malta Street around 9 pm Wednesday, police said.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a 59-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The Denver District Attorney’s office will make the final determination of London-Griffin’s charges and the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim’s identity.
