PlayStation Confirms Helldivers 2 ‘PSN Update’ Won’t Happen

Following a few days of wildfire negativity against Helldivers 2, PlayStation has confirmed that the much-talked-about ‘account linking’ change for the game won’t go ahead on PC. Originally due to land todaythe new update would have required PC players to create a PSN account and link it to continue playing Helldivers 2. One of the biggest concerns was that countless countries weren’t apart of the PlayStation Network, effectively blocking them from playing Helldivers 2 once the update had dropped.

‘We’re Still Learning’

In a short statement posted on Twitter, PlayStation’s representatives confirmed:

Helldivers fans — we’ve heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward.

We’re still learning what is best for PC players and your feedback has been invaluable. Thanks again for your continued support of Helldivers 2 and we’ll keep you updated on future plans.

Sadly, Helldivers 2 has been forever marred by more than 100,000 negative reviews on Steam. The recent review rating sits at ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’, and the overall sentiment regarding the game is at an all-time low, despite the game having seen rampant success since being released in February.
