Our first 90° day of the year expected today in Houston
Tuesday’s Forecast:

We climbed to 90° for the first time this year. It’s been a long while since we’ve been at 90° or above. Our last 90 degree day was on October 21st. For more on 90 degree climatology check out Frank’s blog here. We’ll also have a heat index ranging from 100°105° the next three days.

Be careful if you are spending a lot of time outside. Our bodies aren’t used to this kind of heat just yet. If you’re cleaning up your property, be sure to stay hydrated as this heat may lead to exhaustion.

Dewpoints reach the upper 70s by Wednesday.

Cool front Thursday:

Our next cool front is expected Thursday night. This front brings a severe weather threat. It’s a fast move which means the greatest threat is wind damage. This fast movement will prevent it from bringing a lot of rain. Rain totals range from a tenth of an inch to a half inch of rain.

Humidity climbs a little Mother’s Day, but it will still feel pretty good.

10-Day Forecast:

The one thing we’re watching next week is the possibility of a stalled trough of low pressure getting stuck near southeast Texas. This would be similar to the weather pattern we had last week. It’s too far out to know if the low stalls so for now I’m going with a chance of rain Monday through Thursday.

Current flooding in Harris County:

Stream and river status is below. You can also check our our Flood Tracker. Avoid parking along streams, rivers and creeks. Never drive around a barrier. Don’t let this week’s sunshine fool you, high water may still be present in some areas. Not only can you be swept away, but floodwaters also hide dangers that can cause sickness, injury or even death. Don’t let children play in floodwaters!
