10 Dabura Was Only Defeated By Another Villain

Buu Saga (Dragon Ball Z)

Despite not being the main villain of the Buu Saga, Dabura dealt more damage than many others in the series. From the very first time he met the Z Fighters, he immediately turned both Piccolo and Krillin to stone, leaving them out of the fight. Back on Babadi’s ship, Dabura faced off against Gohan, and essentially emerged victorious from that conflict as well.

In fact, it wasn’t even any of the heroes that ended up defeating Dabura; that honor ended up going to Majin Buu. In the end, that single loss wound up being the greatest victory of all for Dabura, because King Yemma ended up sending him to heaven, a fate which completely changed Dabura for the better in the long run.

10 Signs Dragon Ball Super Is Setting Uub Up As Goku’s True Successor

Dragon Ball Super has covered a lot of ground, but all the current signs are pointing to Uub’s imminent rise as a major player.

Super 17 was one of the most terrifying villains in Dragon Ball GT. Created from the fusion of Android 17 and Hell Fighter 17, Super 17 unleashed pure havoc on the Z Fighters. Before Super 17 is even created, the original 17 committed one of the most tragic scenes. Despite Android 18’s pleading, 17 kills Krillin in front of his wife, and then proceeds to kill 18 in cold blood as well. This is only a hint of what’s to come when he finally combines with the mutant He’ll Fighter 17 to become Super 17.

Super 17 then proceeds to defeat pretty much all the saiyans at once, treating Vegeta, Goten, Trunks and Gohan like utter weaklings. Super 17’s only weakness is ironically connected to his greatest strength: absorbing energy. Goku is finally able to defeat Super 17 while he is vulnerable to attacks, but there’s no denying that Super 17 won a lot more than he lost against the saiyans.

8 Jiren Nearly Beat the Multiverse’s Strongest Fighters Singly-handedly

Universe Survival Saga (Dragon Ball Super)

Few warriors in dragon ball have as many victories in as short a period as Jiren. Jiren faces a number of the multiverse’s greatest fighters during the Tournament of Power, and none of them stand any chance against him. Jiren even defeats Goku and Vegeta at the same time, and comes so close to killing Goku that it forces Goku to reach a new transformation just to survive.

While Ultra Instinct Goku could have technically defeated Jiren, Goku still didn’t have enough of a handle on the divine technique of the angels yet, and he once again lost to Jiren in a battle of attrition. The only way Universe 7 could beat Jiren was by teaming up on him with multiple fighters at once, and even then, their victory was never guaranteed.

7 Cell Was Only Finally Beaten at His Own Game

Cell Games Saga (Dragon Ball Z)

Even before Cell held his Cell Games Tournament, he had already won far more against the heroes than he lost. In fact, it was during the Cell Games when he’d lose the most. Gohan technically beat Cell twice during the Cell Games, but after first becoming perfect, Cell became a nearly unstoppable powerhouse that defeated every opponent he came across.

One of Cell’s greatest victories was against Vegeta prior to the Cell Games, after he first became perfect. Cell would have actually been defeated by Vegeta had it not been for his convincing the Saiyan Prince to allow him to absorb Android 18. After that, Cell would take down almost everyone he came up against, from Vegeta, to Trunks, and even Goku.

Why Did Dragon Ball Z Backtrack Making Gohan the Main Character?

Gohan had numerous chances to become the leading star of DBZ, but Akira Toriyama had a good reason for continually bringing Goku back as the hero.

In early dragon ball, there was no villain who was nearly as successful as King Piccolo. Not only did he defeat every single hero in the series at least eleven, but he even killed most of them. Then, King Piccolo went on to have his wish granted by Shenron, and even proceeded to take over the entire world.

King Piccolo even technically killed Goku during their first confrontation, though Goku somehow came back to life by a strange means of plot armor which fans still can’t really explain to this day. King Piccolo’s eventual defeat came at the hands of Goku after the latter climbed Korin’s tower, but even that victory wasn’t enough to kill Piccolo for good. He would later reincarnate as Piccolo Jr, who would himself go on to secure a number of further victories against Goku’s friends during the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai.

5 Android 18 Destroyed an Entire Timeline With Her Brother

Android Saga (Dragon Ball Z)

Android 18 has become an inseparable part of the Z Fighters, a loving wife to Krillin and a great mother to her and Krillin’s daughter, Maron. However, before she was any of those things, Android 18 was the most feared villain in DBZ alongside his twin brother, Android 17. With his brother’s help, 18 destroyed an entire timeline, to the point that Future Trunks had to time travel just to give the Z Fighters a chance at fighting back.

Even after Future Trunks went back to warn Goku of the Androids’ impending arrival, it didn’t stop 18 from achieving more victories at the expense of the heroes. The most memorable victory 18 had in the series was definitely her defeat of Vegeta — which completely damaged Vegeta’s pride after he had only recently become a Super Saiyan.

4 Goku Black and Zamasu Had to Be Destroyed By Zeno

Future Trunks Saga (Dragon Ball Z)

In terms of straight-up fights, Zamasu hardly lost at all. He technically would have lost his first fight against Goku, but after becoming Super Saiyan Rose, he would go on to defeat Goku, Vegeta and Trunks multiple times, forcing them to retreat over and over again. Even before Goku and Vegeta showed up, though, Future Trunks’ world was completely decimated by Black, forcing Trunks, Mai, and a small group of resistance fighters into hiding.

Zamasu was eventually set to destroy the entire universe, as he merged with Trunks’ entire timeline, forcing Zeno to destroy it all just to do away with Zamasu once and for all. Without Zeno and Whis’ intervention, Zamasu and Goku Black would have won in the most horrible way imaginable, doing even more irreversible damage to Future Trunks’ timeline than the Androids ever did.

10 Dragon Ball Moments That Actually Live Up To The Hype

Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball is a franchise that’s rich in huge moments and while they don’t all meet expectations, some certainly do.

Moro defeated the Z Fighters a number of times. In their first meeting, Moro left Goku and Vegeta completely powerless in the most literal sense due to his ability to absorb their energy. While Goku and Vegeta trained in hopes of defeating Moro in their rematch, Moro proceeded to devour countless planets in the Universe, increasing his strength substantially along the way. Even upon their initial rematch, Moro beat both Goku and Vegeta individually.

Moro even defeated the Grand Supreme Kai: the being who was absorbed by Buu that gave him the form that’s most recognizable to fans today. It took both Goku mastering UI, and Vegeta utilizing his new Forced Spirit Fission technique, for the heroes to gain the upper hand. Even so, without Merus giving his life to fight Moro, Goku would never have stayed in the fight long enough to find a way to win.

2 Majin Buu Caused the Most Destruction of Any DBZ Villain

Buu Saga (Dragon Ball Z)

Few villains in dragon ball have caused as much unadulterated destruction as Majin Buu. Majin Buu was easily DBZ‘s most successful villain, having defeated the entire cast at least one time each, and often more than once — as was the case with both Vegeta and Gohan. Even Gotenks lost to Majin Buu multiple times, though his first fight against the monster occurred off-screen and happened so quickly that it wasn’t even worth showing in the series.

Majin Buu would later go on to defeat Gohan, Piccolo, and Gotenks yet again, before forcing Vegeta and Goku to fuse just to fight back against him. Buu was so powerful that he took the power of every person on Earth via Goku’s Spirit Bomb technique to defeat him — surprisingly, being the only instance in the entire series that the Spirit Bomb actually went as planned against an enemy.

1 Beerus Still Hasn’t Been Defeated Yet

God of Destruction Beerus Saga (Dragon Ball Super)

Beerus has still never been defeated in dragon ball. While he is no longer considered a villain anymore, that doesn’t change the fact that he could easily get in a bad mood and destroy the planet Earth in a matter of moments if the feeling struck him.

Beerus’ first appearance during the God of Destruction Beerus Saga secured Beerus as one of the villains with the most victories in battle in dragon ball history, and that was before he even fought against Goku. Beerus defeats all the Z Fighters nearly simultaneously, and all without even using a minuscule fraction of his strength. The only reason he didn’t kill everyone on the planet Earth was because Goku entertained him for a while, and also because the food on Earth just happens to be the best in the Universe.
