Flood Advisory Issued For Portions Of Marion, Clinton, & Washington Counties

Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the National Weather Service in St. Louis:

FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM CDT THIS EVENING...    * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is    expected.    * WHERE...A portion of south central Illinois, including the    following counties, east central Clinton, Marion and Washington.    * WHEN...Until 1015 PM CDT.    * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.    * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...    - At 714 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to      thunderstorms. This will cause small stream flooding. Between      1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.    - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over      the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.    - Some locations that will experience flooding include...      Centralia, Salem, Nashville, Sandoval, Wamac, Central City,      Odin, Kinmundy, Irvington, Ashley, Omega, Helm, Stephen      Forbes Station, Posen, Tonti, Beaucoup, Hoyleton, Hoffman,      Iuka and Junction City.      PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...    Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood  deaths occur in vehicles.    Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law  enforcement and request they pass this information to the National  Weather Service when you can do so safely.
