José Eduardo Miranda, a student from Catamarca, received the Honorable Mention at NASA “Pale Blue Dot”.

In this regard, José, in dialogue with Radio Esquiú 95.3, commented: “It was a competition organized by NASA internationally. More than 1,600 people from all over the world participated, more than 106 countries have participated and only 33 projects received this distinction that I won with great honor.”

Regarding the topic he chose to carry out the work, the 24-year-old young man said: “What I did was address the issue of fires, more than anything because it is something that greatly affects the province of Córdoba and I wanted to do more than nothing a data analytics job, where I used my programming knowledge and things I saw in college.”

“Based on that, it was about carrying out an investigation, a report and uploading it for them to review and it seemed like a pretty good initiative to be able to contribute to the prevention of fires, avoid tragedies and everything that this type of problem entails” , accurate.

To carry out his research, the young man from Catamarca commented: “I had to go to the NASA website and from there investigate all the satellites, see which satellite could provide information that is useful for my study, once I find that information that is useful for my study, and there came the work of processing it and downloading all that data to a decision that someone can understand, for example, understanding which province is the most affected, understanding which is the locality that suffers the most from this problem.” “They are types of indicators that help you understand well how this phenomenon happens,” he continued.

As the student explained, this project could be used to train “an artificial intelligence model to make predictions,” based on extensive data analysis carried out from 2004 to the present.

It should be noted that José, who has studied the Japanese and Russian languages, is currently studying the final stretch of the Bachelor of Physics in the province of Córdoba and last year he managed to pass admission to Mensa (An international association of gifted people, whose Minimum income IQ is 130)
