He Government decided to stop the increase in rates gas scheduled for May 2024, according to resolution 224/2024 issued by the National Gas Regulatory Entity (Enargas) in response to an instruction from the Ministry of Economy, headed by Toto Caputowhich argued the need to consolidate the disinflation process initiated by the government.
It is the second price intervention that the head of Economy makes official this month since last Friday he validated a 40% increase in the subsidies received by bus companies that operate in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA).
ENARGAS notified the companies providing the public gas transportation and distribution service that the planned tariff update will not proceed, maintaining the values in force since April 3, 2024. In addition, they were instructed to maintain the value included in the tables tariffs for localities supplied by indiluted propane gas by networks.
The resolution also contemplates that the values of the Seasonal Price of Energy in the Wholesale Electricity Market (PEST) nor the Price of the Input of the Transportation System (PIST) will not be modified for consumption in May 2024, following the instructions of the Ministry of Economy.
The ENARGAS auditor, Carlos Alberto Maria Casaressigned the resolution, which establishes in the first article: “Keep unchanged the Transition Rate Schedules and Rates and Charges for Services in force since April 3, 2024 by virtue of the Considering Clauses of this Resolution.”
