“According to the information collected until 9:00 pm on Tuesday, There are 3,021 people affected, that is, they have nowhere to sleep due to the damage to their homes, 175 affected, 1 dead and 65 injured“, he declared to Peru21 Mario Valenzuela, specialist in Disaster Risk Management at Indeci.

Faced with this situation, Yesterday the Executive approved an Emergency Decree to declare the jurisdictions of VMT and Pachacámac in emergency for 30 days. “It has been approved due to the damages suffered by citizens and provides that, in coordination with the municipalities and Indeci, response actions be carried out to serve citizens,” said Premier Gustavo Adrianzén.

500 SOL BONUS

In turn, the Minister of Housing, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar, explained that 35 homes had been declared uninhabitable; while the rest had smaller impacts.

Along these lines, he announced that The Government will provide an emergency rental bonus for S/500 per month to each family with their property collapsed, until the company responsible for the incident activates the insurance policy and replaces the affected homes.

In the emergency area, located at the intersection of Lima Avenue and Pachacutec, the atmosphere is desolate: The properties are destroyed and those affected—neighbors, passersby, drivers—are desperately crying out for the company to GESA responsible for the material, physical and psychological damages caused. For now, they sleep in the middle of the rubble or in tents and feed themselves from common pots.

Premier Andrianzén stated that “this bonus does not exempt the private company from responsibility,” which is why he demanded that it activate the insurance policy as soon as possible and care for the victims.

KEEP IN MIND

The Criminal Prosecutor’s Office VMT opened an investigation against the representatives of the tap and those responsible for the explosion.

The fact is investigated for the alleged commission of a crime against public safety to the detriment of society and Luis Flores.
