In the last hours it was learned that the mayor of General Pinto, Alfredo “Freddy” Zavatarelli, was involved in an accident while traveling on the road with his vehicle. The mayor is hospitalized in serious condition and in the last few hours he was stabilized through a pharmacologically induced coma.
The crash occurred around 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the Route 188 at kilometer 233. The causes of the accident are still a matter of investigation and news on the matter is awaited.
In principle, the first assessments indicated that Zavatarelli was driving in a Volkswagen Amarok truck when hit a semi-trailer truck. The largest vehicle, of the Iveco brand, was transporting grain and would have boarded the route from the Balsa town.
According to the latest medical report issued by the Management of the Lincoln Municipal Hospital “Dr. Rubén Miravalle”, Mayor Freddy Zavatarelli remains hospitalized in intensive care and presents mild head trauma, closed chest trauma with multiple rib fractures and lung contusion, which is why he required a pharmacologically induced coma.
Due to this, the patient was transferred by medical flight to the Italian Hospital in Buenos Aires given the complexity of his pathology.
The doctors at the Hospital, where the community leader is located, indicated that he did not have to undergo surgery since he did not present brain or neurological injuries, so they hope that during the morning of this Thursday there will be evolutionary developments in his state of health.
According to the Democracy Newspaperthe official report stated that “the presence of multiple fractures and considerable in the costal arches, with contusion in both lungs so, at this time, he is assisted with mechanical ventilation to facilitate his breathing. On the other hand, it was determined that he does not have brain or neurological injuries that require intervention.”
