Private sports institutions Rio Grande, Tierra del Fuegoreceived gas bills that were around one million pesos, so the Municipality presented a judicial protection to stop the increases. Although the national government postponed the increase in gas rates in order to “consolidate disinflation”, the sector is concerned about the maintenance of the gyms that thousands of kids attend daily.

In a city that has sub-zero temperatures in the winter, closed public and private establishments linked to sports are places that generate a sense of belonging, unity, solidarity and support for children, adolescents and adults.

“All institutions have a common denominator, which is firstly the concern about the increase in services, because of how prohibitive this increase becomes, which is generating uncertainty about whether they will be able to continue operating or not,” the Manager told this medium. Executive of the Municipal Sports and Youth Agency of the Municipality of Río Grande, Sebastián Bendaña.

Bendaña explained that “to think that a neighborhood club has to start the month with a debt or an obligation to pay of one million pesos means that that place is at serious risk of being able to continue providing the services it provides, taking into account that the most Important is containment, the fact of making our neighbors feel rooted in everything that is the city.”

A worrying case is that of the historic Club Sportivo in which generations of Fuegians and entire families from the city have spent 55 years. Noemi Torres, president of the institution, expressed: “What came to us is a huge increase because we are not yet entering the winter ban” and she pointed out as an example that she went from paying 17 thousand pesos for an invoice to paying 340 thousand.

“We are complicated because we cannot transfer this increase to the fees, which is what the club survives on, in addition to renting the use of fields. I don’t know how we are going to do it, it is a very serious problem and we cannot lower gas consumption even if we wanted to, in the middle of winter we have to turn on the heating at 2 in the afternoon so that when the activities start at 5:30 p.m. the gym equipped for the kids to practice,” he added.

The same thing happens in municipal establishments, which are 18 sports spaces located in different neighborhoods of the city. “This happens to us in the municipality, where we also have our gyms open from 7 in the morning until 12 at night, we are seeing that gas services have increased exponentially to over a million pesos,” commented Bendaña.

Other places, such as the Arena Sports Center, had an increase in gas rates from $73,000 to $900,000 and electricity rates from $120,000 to $440,000. Last week, after a meeting with Mayor Martín Perez, the private spaces raised the fear of having to stop functioning, which is why the support of the Municipality is crucial to carry out different measures, working directly with the Sports Agency and the Legal Counsel. Municipal.

At the ADEFU Club, its president Víctor Caliva commented that it is “very difficult” to sustain a place so large that houses more than 560 kids who play sports such as futsal, volleyball and hockey. “This situation puts us in a very difficult place because it makes it impossible for us to sustain this space for so many people because we cannot transfer the quota from one month to the next because the difference was one million pesos,” he indicated.

“If we have to transfer that amount to the quota, a lot of people will be left without doing physical activity and we will have a selective institution where some will be able to go and others will not,” he concluded.

Judicial action to stop the tariff

The legal advisor of the Municipality of Río Grande, Verónica Ramirez, formalized this afternoon the presentation of the amparo action with precautionary measure before the Federal Justice, with the aim of suspending the effects of the Resolution of the Regulatory Entity (ENARGAS), this in response to the excessive increases in gas rates suffered by neighbors, civil and commercial associations, sports clubs, unions, foundations and community and retirement centers.

The action was carried out at the request of Mayor Martín Perez and aims to stop the high rates reflected in the gas bills for the period of April, which according to users, are “unpayable.” Likewise, Perez confirmed that he will accompany the presentation that Governor Gustavo Melella will make in the same sense.

“This action is to put a stop to this situation,” said Pérez and explained that “it seeks to guarantee that the rights of neighbors are protected and that urgent measures are taken to avoid the negative impact of these rate increases on families and communities.” local institutions.

The mayor added: “Each entity in our city plays a fundamental role in containment and development, and we must protect them.” Later, he referred to the issue through his social network That is why today we present a precautionary measure before the court to stop the rise. We are going to defend Río Grande and the neighbors at all levels. The increases should be moderate, not exorbitant. We will also support the presentation of Governor Gustavo Melella in the face of this situation.”

What is a collective protection action with precautionary measure?

It is an action in which a group of people or institutions jointly present a claim for the protection of their rights against an action or omission of a third party, which together with the precautionary measure seeks to suspend the effects of a Resolution as in the present case.

In this sense, the Municipality of Río Grande seeks to protect the community from the serious negative economic impact caused by disproportionate increases in gas rates.
