He Mayor of the city of General Pinto, Alfredo “Freddy” Zavatarelli, suffered a car accident and “Doctor Rubén Miravalle” remained hospitalized in therapy at the Lincoln Municipal Hospital, with polytrauma and multiple bills.

The accident occurred the night before last when the official collided with his white Volkswagen Amarok truck against a truck with a trailer that was transporting cereals. It was on Route 188, near the Balsa intersection, near a silo plant.

According to sources in the case, the expert reports are still continuing so the exact causes of the road incident, which occurred around 9 p.m., were not known, but investigators suspected that it occurred when Zavatarelli fell asleep.

Due to the fierce impact, the mayor had to be rescued by local firefighters and immediately transferred to the Lincoln Municipal Hospital.

The last medical report indicates that he suffered “multiple and significant fractures in the costal arches, with contusion in both lungs, which is why, at this time, he is being assisted with mechanical ventilation to facilitate his breathing.”

On the other hand, it was determined that “he does not present brain or neurological injuries that require intervention.”

Regarding the truck driver, the authorities detailed that he was unharmed in the accident, but very surprised to learn who was involved in the collision.

For much of yesterday morning there was a shutdown in the area due to the work of volunteer firefighters, Road Police and Scientific Police to determine how the incident occurred.

It is expected that during the day there will be another notification from the medical institution to find out if the official’s health has evolved.

The mayor will remain in Lincoln assisted and monitored, awaiting his evolution in the coming hours.

Zavatarelli was re-elected in October of last year for a period of another four years at the head of General Pinto’s mayor’s office for the Union for the Homeland party.

On this occasion he won with 52.6% of the votes against Jorge Sánchez, candidate of Together for Change, who obtained 47.4%.

In addition, he held several positions in local politics. With the Frente de Todos, in 2019, she ran for local mayor and won with 62.91% of the votes, against 35.75% for the Together for Change candidate, Daiana García.

Previously, he held the positions of councilor between 2011 and 2015, and prior to that he became head of the Pinto Government Secretariat in 2003.

The event, needless to say, generated great commotion throughout the entire community of Pinto, whose inhabitants were shocked and very attentive to its evolution.

In that sense, the next medical report is eagerly awaited to find out about his state of health.
