A Spanish pilot dies in a crash between two aircraft in Portugal

A Spanish pilot has died in a crash between two aircraft which occurred in the town of Beja (Portugal), in which another person of Portuguese nationality was injured. The events took place last Sunday, June 2, in the town located in the south of the neighboring country.

According to Portuguese Air Force, the pilot was part of the Iberian aerobatic patrol Yakstars, made up of pilots from both countries. He was at 16:05 local time (17:05 in Spain) when the accident at Beja Air Base No. 11. “With an enormous sense of regret and dismay, the Air Force offers its deepest condolences to family, friends and acquaintances,” the unit expressed.

For his part, the Portuguese citizen was slightly injured and required medical attention from the military and civilian health teams present. Finally, he was transferred to the local hospital.
