GUANAJUATO, Gto. (apeo).- With more than 50 percent of the records captured in the Preliminary Results Program (PREP), the candidate of the Fuerza y Corazón coalition for Guanajuato, Libya Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, maintains an advantage of more than 10 points percentages of the candidate of the Let’s Keep Making History coalition in Guanajuato, Alma Alcaraz Hernández.

Minutes before 7:00 p.m. this Sunday, the two leading candidates came out to proclaim themselves winners, but by 10:00 p.m., only the PAN member Libia García Muñoz Ledo called for a celebration with the militancy in the municipality of León, while the Morenista did not give any more statements and his bunker began to become empty.

According to the quick count presented by the Electoral Institute of the State of Guanajuato (IEEG), the difference between candidate Libia García and Alma Alcaraz was between 10 and 11 percentage points, similar to the results shown by the PREP.

The candidate of the PAN-PRI-PRD coalition will become the first woman to govern Guanajuato.

“I feel very excited because all of us are making this historic moment, we have achieved that for the first time in the history of Guanajuato a woman is at the head of the State Government, and that fills me with pride, with commitment, because we are going to be the best government in the history of Guanajuato,” he said in front of hundreds of people in the municipality of León.

García Muñoz Ledo sent a message to the citizens of Guanajuato: “today those who voted for us, who came out on a day that has been exemplary of participation, with enthusiasm, with passion, today I tell you that you will have a governor who will be the governor of the people”.

Despite the victory of the coalition in the governorship, the PAN loses the hegemony in the State Congress that it had retained since 1997. With the preliminary results, Morena and the Together We Will Make History coalition in Guanajuato have the advantage in 8 of the 22 districts locals, when in the 2021 election Morena barely won one of the districts.

Among the districts that the PAN lost are the two in Celaya (the XV and XVI), as well as the XII with headquarters in Irapuato. The PAN also lost the mayoralty of Celaya with Javier Mendoza Márquez, who was seeking re-election, with the advantage of the Morena candidate Juan Miguel Ramírez, who replaced Gisela Gaytán, a candidate murdered on the first day of the campaign.

According to the estimates of the electoral authorities, citizen participation on this Sunday is around 55 percent.
