Don Bosco often took young people on hikes and nature trails. He loved nature and in his early childhood he worked on the farm. Jesus and his Mother Help of Christians spoke to him in dreams using different animals from nature.
We see a deep connection to nature and creation in all of her works, from caring for poor children to taking them on nature walks and spending time outdoors. Don Bosco understood that we are not just part of creation, but we are one with the Creator and creation.
How then can we move forward on that path, knowing that all created things come from God and must return to Him for His praise, reverence and service? We must value all gifts and carry gratitude in our hearts for all of God’s creation and the created things we have received from his generosity.
This is the attitude that we must have in every Salesian house. We must ask our beloved Mother Help of Christians to guide our efforts so that we can offer all our work to our creator, who has granted us all his blessings.
This is the dream of Don Bosco Green Alliance and that all Salesian houses in the world embrace. Every year, in all school stages, in all environments and throughout the entire course, the premise of taking care of the common home is lived. Because, as the Salesian National Center for Youth Ministry proposes, “The Future is not disposable.”
