This morning, Wednesday, June 5, the Spanish Mini Women’s Club Championship 2024 was presented in the Lost Steps Room of the Malaga Provincial Council, which will be held in Fuengirola and Alhaurín de la Torre from the 23rd to the 29th. of June.

The event was attended by Mr. Antonio de Torres, vice president of the Spanish Basketball Federation and president of the Andalusian Federation; Mr. Juan Rosas, 4th vice president of the Malaga Provincial Council and deputy for Sports; D. Gemma Corral, territorial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía; Mr. Sergio Cortés, sports councilor of Alhaurín de la Torre; Mr. Julio Rodríguez, Sports Councilor of Fuengirola; Mr. Ricardo Bandrés, vice president of the Andalusian Basketball Federation and provincial delegate in Malaga; Mr. Javier Díaz, head of Service of the Malaga Provincial Council; Mr. Héctor Sánchez, President of CB Algazara; Mr. Francisco José Portillo, president of CB Alhaurín de la Torre and Mr. Fernando Revillas, president of CB Salliver.

The event was opened by the 4th Vice President of the Malaga Provincial Council and Sports Deputy, Mr. Juan Rosas, who took advantage of his intervention to introduce the Championship, talking about participants and format. He wanted to thank, of course, the willingness and effort of Fuengirola and Alhaurín de la Torre to organize this tournament, as well as the commitment of the FAB, the FEB, with the necessary support of the Junta de Andalucía.

D. Gemma Corral, territorial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, took the floor next, and wanted to thank all the people involved in this Championship for their willingness to organize it: to the Town Councils involved , the Sports Federations and the Malaga Provincial Council for the great tandem they form in the organization of these events. He wanted to highlight the tourist importance of the event, with everything that implies that 500 participants will enjoy the province of Malaga for almost a week, pointing out, above all, the relevance of betting on women’s sports and an event of this nature. How important it is for the future of the girls of Andalusia.

Mr. Sergio Cortés, sports councilor of Alhaurín de la Torre and Mr. Julio Rodríguez, Sports councilor of Fuengirola, then intervened thanking all the institutions for their trust and effort to bring this tournament to each municipality after so many years without receive a Spanish Championship. Both also highlighted the efforts being made in their locations to improve sports facilities and increase the offer to, in the future, continue bringing this type of events closer to both locations.

Mr. Antonio de Torres, vice president of the Spanish Basketball Federation and president of the Andalusian Federation, closed the presentation, wishing a new and successful championship in Andalusia. From the FEB, he highlighted how easy it is to bet on Andalusia to hold these tournaments, and on the province of Malaga in an idyllic setting. As FAB, he stressed the importance of this type of Championship for Andalusian basketball, wishing to host much more in the future.
