A fast passenger train collided head-on with a freight train about 100 km from Prague on the night of Thursday, June 5. At least 4 dead and more than twenty injured in what the Czech Prime Minister has described as a tragedy.

A fast train collided head-on with a freight train in the Czech Republic, causing the death of at least four people on board, authorities reported early Thursday.

The fast train belonged to the private company RegioJetRakušan said, and had more than 300 people on board bound for Kosice, Slovakia.

Transport Minister Martin Kupka said the main road between Prague and the east of the country had to be closed while authorities investigate. The first MinisterPetr Fiala, described the accident as a tragedy and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.
