Universitario de Deportes announced this Thursday the signing of national defender Alfonso Dulanto, who returns to the ‘cream’ club after seven years. The defender becomes the first reinforcement of the national champion with a view to the 2024 Liga 1 Clausura Tournament.
Dulanto had been in talks with the Universitario administration for a few days, reaching a good agreement for the 29-year-old player to become a reinforcement.
Gustavo Dulanto is the son of the former Universitario defender, Alfonso Dulanto, and has an important international career after being one of the figures of Sheriff Tiraspol with whom he achieved a historic classification, for the first time, to a club from Moldova to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Precisely, Dulanto was one of the architects of his team’s great victory (2-0) in the 2021 Champions League against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu itself. He was captain and one of the most outstanding elements in the match played on September 28, 2021.
Dulanto had already been training for a long time in the Universitario reserve team after leaving his last club, Riga FC in Latvia, where he arrived after his great time at Sheriff Tiraspol.
