GUARDAMAR DEL SEGURA (EUROPA PRESS). Three men have diedhogged on La Roqueta beach, in Guardamar del Segura in 24 hours. A man died this Thursday, while the other two died this Friday, after going to rescue two young people who were being swept away by the current.

The first event on the Roqueta de Guardamar beach occurred this Thursday, when around 12:00 p.m. the Emergency Information and Coordination Center (CICU) received a notice that a person was drowning.

The CICU, as reported in a statement, activated a SAMU whose health personnel, upon arrival, attempted to resuscitate a 68-year-old man for more than half an hour. However, there was no response as the man had died.

This Friday there were two more drowning deaths on the same beach, a 46-year-old Polish man and a 52-year-old Englishman, as sources from the Civil Guard have confirmed to Europa Press. The CICU received notification at 12:00 that two young people were being swept away by the current, while a group of about six people were trying to rescue them.

Two SAMU and two SVB were mobilized and, upon arrival, health personnel tried to revive two men, but there was no response, they had died.

The professionals have also treated a 39-year-old man with symptoms of drowning, and he has been transferred by a SAMU to the Torrevieja Hospital. Likewise, health personnel have also treated two other people, a woman about 20 years old, who presented mild dizziness and anxiety; and a 22-year-old man, also due to dizziness and having swallowed water. Both have been transferred by two BLS units to the Torrevieja hospital.
