An attack with explosives launched from drones was perpetrated this Friday, June 7, in broad daylight, against the Popayán police command, while alleged FARC dissidents detonated a car bomb in the neighboring department of Valle del Cauca, in Jamundí . Regarding the facts, the National Government spoke out.

Meanwhile, the Military Forces indicated that the Army is present in Robles and that so far “no members of the Public Force or injured civilians have been recorded” in this town where FARC dissidents perpetrated another attack last month.
Besides, The Minister of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velasco, confirmed the two attacks: “I have been informed of the two acts of terrorism, they cannot be called anything else. Obviously we have to confirm the authorship, but one might wonder where these types of attacks come from.”

The National Government rejects the recent attacks
They indicated that “these acts of violence that seek to undermine the tranquility of the Colombian people are unacceptable.” They even pointed out that those people who “perpetuate the armed conflict will face the full weight of the law.”
Likewise, they reiterated their support for the Military Forces, “who are carrying out an effective offensive against illegal structures that threaten peace and security.” Furthermore, they added that the effort to dismantle these criminal organizations that “chose war over peace” will not cease.
Our commitment to the protection of the Colombian people and the well-being of our soldiers and police is unwavering.
“Our commitment to the protection of the Colombian people and the well-being of our soldiers and police is unwavering. “Do not expect anything from us other than a Government that works tirelessly to guarantee the safety and well-being of all citizens affected by these acts of violence,” they concluded in the letter.
It is worth remembering that President Gustavo Petro ordered last month not to resume the ceasefire with the EMC, nor to establish a dialogue after the escalation of violence in the southwest of the country.
Violence has intensified in the region after last March the Government suspended the bilateral ceasefire in the departments of Nariño, Valle del Cauca and Cauca.
