Minutes before midnight on June 7, a railing of the Rich clublocated in the Square Alttus of San Luis Potosi, collapsed due to overcrowding at the establishment. The attendees had come to the place to witness the singer’s concert Kevin Morenoalso known as Kevin AMForiginally from Sinaloa.
The collapse resulted in the death of two people and 15 injuries. Security cameras installed outside the building captured the moment when several young people fell after the structure collapsed.
Witnesses indicated that the club was crowded, which led to a group of young people gathering on the stairs. The pressure exerted on the glass railing was excessive, causing it to collapse.
The nightclub is located at Avenida Sierra Leona 360, inside the exclusive Plaza Alttus shopping center. It is a popular place among young people in the capital of San Luis Potosí.
On TikTok there are several videos uploaded by people who visited the site attracted by its theme, guests and atmosphere.
According to the descriptions of some of these clips, Rich’s club had a different theme every night and decorations accordingly.
In addition, it was known for being a meeting point for recognized influencers and for having special guests. Among the famous people who had performances there is Drake Bell.
In the clips uploaded to the network you can also see the inside of the club: decorated with neon lights and several spots where attendees could take selfies and photos.
Among the recognized spots is one made up of an armchair with fluorescent letters in the background, placed next to a white horse figure.
The toilets also stand out for their decoration, as some are themed with different themes, for example the video game Pac-Man.
One more element shown in several videos is the McDonald’s golden arches hanging from the ceiling.
After the collapse of a railing that led to the death of two young people and injured 15 more, the municipal government of San Luis Potosí reported that the departments of Commerce and State Government They closed the Rich club.
On the other hand, Jorge Daniel Hernández Delgadillo, General Secretary of the municipality, explained that the nightclub did not have authorization to perform the Kevin AMF concert.
“There is no request for any permit for an event of this nature to take place. The constant presence and certainly without any control of people attending this event caused one of the railings on the third floor of this Alttus building to give way to pressure,” he explained.
While the Attorney General’s Office of the State of San Luis Potosí (FGESLP) reported that it opened a research portfolio to clarify what happened.
The prosecutor’s office said that the incident was attended to on the night of June 7 by agents of the Investigative Police. (POI) and staff of the Scientific Deputy Prosecutor’s Office, who went to the scene to begin the first investigations.
