Warning: Furiosa spoilers
Although Furiosa has fallen in love with both fans and not so fans of the saga Mad Max, the film has not been without controversy. George Miller’s new film has left very exciting scenes, but also some sequences that have provoked the anger of certain viewers, who have directed their hatred towards an actor: Nathan Jones.
To put it in context, during the first part of the movie, Rictus, the character played by Jones, tries to abuse Furiosa when she is a child. This has led many to not separate the character from the actor, resulting in hate messages and threats directed at Jones.
Through his Facebook account, the actor wanted to emphasize that he is a character and that, obviously, his attitude is enormously far from that of Rictus in the Mad Max saga.
“I have received some questions and private messages about my role in Mad Max: Furiosa, particularly about a scene with the young Furiosa. It is a very sensitive topic, and I want to emphasize that this is a fictional character. The details can be uncomfortable and, as an actor, my job is to portray a character based on the direction and script provided to me. I appreciate your understanding and support in recognizing the distinction between fiction and reality. “
Fortunately, almost the entire public has supported him in this cause, stating that if there are people angry with his character, it means that he has played it well. Something similar happened with other actors, such as Jack Gleesonwho even had to temporarily abandon his career due to the harassment he received for his role in Game of Thrones.
Of course, there is a big problem among some viewers who do not know how to differentiate reality from fiction. Although this reaction is small at first, the more famous the product is, the more people of all kinds come to see it, and the saga Mad Max is one of them.
