In Santiago del Estero, Gendarmerie officers noticed anomalies in the exhaust pipe catalyst.
In the early hours of yesterday, personnel from the “Monte Quemado” Section of Squadron 59 “Santiago Del Estero” controlled a private Volkswagen Saveiro vehicle coming from Pichanal (Salta) with its final destination in the Santiago city of Fernández.
The procedure was carried out on National Route No. 34, near the town of Rapelli, at the time when the gendarmes requested the documentation of the vehicle and its occupants, it emerged that one of them had a record of possession, supply and drug trafficking, in violation of Law 23,737.
They carried 50 kilos of cocaine inside the wheels of a truck
Upon further inspection of the vehicle, the uniformed officers observed with the naked eye that the catalyst in the exhaust pipe was disconnected and showed signs of having been recently removed, which caught their attention.
After reporting the incident to the Federal Court No. 1 of Santiago del Estero, the officers dismantled the exhaust pipe and found four rectangular packages containing a substance that was subjected to Narcotest field tests, yielding a total of 4 kilos 87 grams of cocaine.
The Intervening Magistrate ordered the arrest of two citizens involved and the seizure of the vehicle and the narcotic.
