The president of the Villa Lago Gutiérrez neighborhood council, Nicolás Carini, expressed concern about the lack of completion of works related to the gas installation.
It is worth remembering that this neighborhood group brings together four neighborhoods, and the inconveniences have to do with two of them, the one that gives its name to the meeting and Reina Mora.
Carini explained that the work was pre-awarded in May 2023, but they only finished approving it in November, that is, during the end of Gustavo Gennuso’s administration.
By that time, it was already known that the next communal leader was going to be Walter Cortés, who immediately began to refer to certain disorders in the municipal coffers, which, upon assuming office, he reiterated, but having already certified some issues that made him “noise.” ”.
Carini, precisely, pointed out that Cortés always made it clear to them that “his priorities were other and that, for this, there was no money.”
However, the president of the neighborhood council expressed that, according to their analysis, “there is a budget for the work and it would be more expensive to stop doing it than to carry it out.”
It is worth remembering that recently, for another reason, Cortés accompanied the inhabitants of the area. Specifically, in a complaint about insecurity in that part of the town.
Precisely, the representative of the neighborhood group indicated: “We have no bad predisposition towards the mayor, but on this specific issue we are not getting answers.”
According to Carini, from the beginning, the municipality told them that “there was no money and that the contract with the company was going to be terminated.”
“We offered the possibility of creating a commission made up of neighbors, external experts, officials and people from the company, chaired by the board, to see if we could look for financing alternatives,” he explained, adding that “the work is a contribution for improvements.” , that is, the neighbors themselves pay it, and the municipality contributes by facilitating the initial financing”, in addition to highlighting that there are those who “already paid, partially or completely, for which they could take legal action against the municipality.”
On the other hand, he highlighted that the work “was declared of public utility by the Municipal Council.”
“We know that one of the workhorses of this administration is the one that targets social lots, within the framework of the city’s housing emergency, but we believe that it is a contradiction to promote that and, on the other hand, obstruct the progress of a work of infrastructure,” said Carini, reflecting: “Both things go hand in hand, because there is no access to decent housing without services.”
Likewise, he stated: “If the project falls, redoing it would be terribly complex; “It would delay for years what could be done now.”
In this way, he maintained: “The mayor, at some point, spoke about the ill-gotten debts, highlighting that he would not take care of them. If this is part of that, there should be a criminal complaint against an official from the past administration.”
Thus, he stressed that, in his opinion, to carry out the tasks, “all administrative protocols were followed, so it is not appropriate to interrupt the process.”
“Having gas is something that changes the lives of neighbors,” he said.
Indeed, several of them went to the Services, Transit and Transportation Commission, chaired by councilor Roxana Ferreyra, to explain the situation.
There, according to what Carini explained, it was decided to summon the authorities of the Treasury and Territorial Planning areas. “So that they can inform us of the reasons why the work is not being done,” he said.
