Reports from local media and statements from residents also show that the insurgent group Estado Mayor Central (EMC) attacked the Police substation of the Potrerito district, in the rural area of the aforementioned municipality, reported Blu Radio.

The event involving explosives that occurred during this day in Jamundí joins others of the same nature in less than a month in that region.

Last Friday in the town of Robles a car bomb exploded, leaving no victims or injuries, although it did cause material damage to some homes near the site of the detonation.

Also on May 20, the explosion of another motorcycle loaded with explosives in the urban part of the town of Jamundí caused injuries to at least two police officers.

The southwest of Colombia is experiencing an escalation of clashes between the National Army and the EMC, a dissident of the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces-People’s Army.

Hostilities restarted on March 20, when President Gustavo Petro reversed the ceasefire order in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Nariño, in response to an attack by that structure against an indigenous minga.
