Hot, dry, windy conditions forecast for parts of Southern California have put on alert to specialists due to the increased risk of forest fires breaking outreported the National Weather Service (NWS).

Southwest winds were expected to remain gusty over southern inland regions and weather conditions conducive to wildfire outbreaks worsen starting Friday and continuing through Sunday in the Antelope Valley area and the south coast of Santa Barbara.

Forecasters urged residents to Stay alert in case any incident occurs in the region.

In mountainous and desert areas, gusts from the southwest of 25 to 40 miles per hour are likely, while Antelope Valley residents could see wind speeds of up to 45 miles per hour.

Strong wind conditions combined with low humidity and terrain with dry vegetation increase the potential risk that, should a grass fire occur, it will spread rapidlyNWS officials said.

In Santa Barbara County, since Friday afternoon, the winds coming from the north, which may reach their maximum intensity this Saturday, could reach gusts of 30 to 55 miles per hourwith a moderate threat of gusts up to 65 miles per hour in the Montecito Hills area, the NWS said.

In addition to the latent danger of dry vegetation fires emerging, authorities also warned that strong winds could create dangerous conditions for drivers, especially those behind the wheel of high-profile vehicles.

“Temperatures this weekend will increase at least a few degrees to the coastwhere skies will be mostly clear,” NWS meteorologists said.

Communities on higher ground You can expect maximum temperatures between 93 to 103 degreeswith minimums in the mountains and foothills between 68 and 78 degrees.

In the valleys, Maximum temperatures could reach 90 to 100 degreeswhile in beach areas they would be between 70 and 80 degrees.
