On June 12, NASA transmitted audio that seemed to indicate an emergency on the International Space Station.

As if it were a science fiction movie, NASA broadcast audio of an astronaut in distress. Everything seemed to indicate that the crew on board the International Space Station had an emergency. Despite the warning signs, the space agency has clarified that what happened was a simulation and assured that everything is under control on the station.

What was the supposed problem?

In the live video that was played on NASA’s YouTube channel, a terrifying audio was leaked: an astronaut was asking for help due to the compression loss. The broadcast also contained advice from a distraught surgeon who was stuck in traffic, still an hour away from reaching the control center.

Although everything seemed very real, NASA released a statement a few minutes after the incident where it clarified that everything was part of a simulation and that the crew was sleeping at the time of the supposed emergency.

“This audio inadvertently deviated from an ongoing simulation where crew members and ground crews train for various scenarios in space and is not related to an actual emergency,” NASA said on the website. ISS in X.

So far, there has been no further news about emergencies in International Space Station. Even so, the activities did not go according to plan as they reported the cancellation of a spacewalk due to problems with the suit worn by the crew.
