After their victory on Wednesday against Banfield, Independiente added another piece of good news: this morning, the club announced Julio Vaccari as the team’s new coach, who will have the tough mission of straightening the course of a team that is not going through a good moment and which cannot be reinforced by inhibitions.
“Julio Vaccari is the new Technical Director of Independiente. He has just signed his contract at the Stadium until December 2025. Welcome to the King of Cups!”, announced the Avellaneda entity on its social networks. In this way, he made official information that had been in the works since last week.
The former Defense and Justice and Vélez coach returned from his vacation in recent days and sealed their bond this Thursday, to be presented to the media at a press conference at the Libertadores de América stadium.
His contract will be until December 2025 and he will be the replacement for Carlos Tevez, who resigned after the home defeat against Talleres on the first date of the Professional League. From that moment on, the team was led by Hugo Tocalli, who is youth coordinator and was acting until last night’s match against Banfield.
Vaccari arrives at Independiente accompanied by Gastón Machín, Gino Navone and Gastón Saccani as field assistants. After the break for the Copa América, the Rojo team will begin the preseason on June 27, already with its entire new coaching staff.
A complex pass market
Beyond the arrival of the new coach, the next few days will not be easy in the life of Independiente. The fact is that the leaders of the entity were cautious with the issue of reinforcements, since everything is subject to the possibilities of lifting the million-dollar inhibitions that weigh on the entity and that prevent it from hiring players. For this reason, the ideal is not to get rid of any player in the event that the conflict cannot be resolved and players cannot be incorporated into this transfer market.
Speaking during the negotiations, the coach will analyze the squad for a couple of days and from there he will see how he copes with the season. In the previous meetings, he outlined his idea of getting the most out of the youth players, with names that include Santiago López, scorer of the first goal against Banfield, and Tomás Parmo, two of the red seed’s biggest promises.
