In Córdoba there was a fight. Talleres needed to secure victory at home to close the semester as leader of the Professional League and the annual table, a goal it achieved, although the development of the match was unexpected. Although they started with an advantage thanks to Marcelo Barticciotto’s header (with a scorer’s manual in hand), the T’s game faded more than expected and they ended up suffering.

The initial fluidity of the team, with the characteristic speed of Juan Portillo, Matías Galarza and Rubén Botta, disappeared before the firm resistance of a Platense determined not to give ground. Debutant Franco Minerva scored the tying goal. Doubts arose and Talleres showed more and more inaccuracies. However, Botta’s feet, with the serenity of a classic ’10’, provided the necessary calm for the team to reorganize both in defense and attack.

Walter Ribonetto’s adjustments were fundamental and brought Talleres to 2-1, which came after a spectacular definition by Alejandro Martínez, who deceived the goalkeeper and directed his shot towards the nearest post. From that moment on, the game was on track and Marrón’s nerves got to him, which ended with Vázquez in the goal due to the expulsion of Cozzani (who stopped Rodríguez on his way to the third goal). Although Talleres did not shine as he usually does, he managed to overcome a rival determined to complicate his life, thus ensuring his position at the top of Argentine football.

Of course, these triumphs are especially gratifying. Mainly because Talleres says goodbye on the way to recess after a spectacular group stage in the Copa Libertadores (where they will face River in the round of 16), leading both tables in Argentine football. Despite the absence of Ramón Sosa, the team has demonstrated a high level of performance, confirmed by its 37 points in 19 dates, leaving an outstanding first half of the year that should be taken as an indication that things are being done well.
