“We are devastated by the news of Campbell’s death after a short illness,” Arsenal said in a statement.

Everton announced earlier this month that Campbell, who played with the English Under-21 teamhad been admitted to the hospital and was “very serious.”

“Everyone at Everton is deeply saddened by the death of our former striker Kevin Campbell at just 54 years old. He is not only a Goodison Parl hero and an icon of English football, he is also an incredible person and everyone who knew him knows this,” Everton assured.

The illness, which has not been revealed, evolved very quickly to the point that 13 days later he ended up dying.

Campbell also played for other British clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Leicester, Cardiff and West Bromwichin addition to a brief passage through the Trabzonspor Turkish.
