CARMEN, CAMP.- In compliance with the commitment made to the state governor, Layda Elena Sansores San Román, the general director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Octavio Romero Oropeza, the Mexican oil company has covered approximately 40 percent of the debt it maintained with its suppliers.

This was stated by the president of the Campeche Energy Cluster, Gonzalo Hernández Pérez, who maintained that the commitment is that by August, payments will have been regularized.

He indicated that if the debt with Pemex suppliers cannot be covered 100 percent, being able to pay 60 or 80 percent will be very helpful, since it will allow companies to capitalize.

He pointed out that in the month of May, according to Pemex’s monthly report, 40 percent of the debt with suppliers, which amounted to 380 billion pesos, was covered.

He stated that the business sector continues to participate with Pemex, especially in maintenance, prevention and correction contracts, the most frequent being those of Pemex Exploration and Production (PEP).

“We must remember that PEP is the area on which the entire economy of the state of Campeche, Tabasco and Veracruz depends; as well as most of the national activity.
