Authorities issued evacuation orders Saturday as a wildfire in Los Angeles County spread across thousands of acres near a major highway and threatened nearby structures.

The fire, called Post Fireburned more than 4,400 acres near Interstate 5 in Gorman, about 62 miles northwest of Los Angeles, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire.

The flames broke out at 1:45 p.m. local time, according to authorities. The fire was 0% contained as of 10:48 p.m., according to an update to Cal Fire’s website, which indicated no casualties had been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

California State Park Services evacuated 1,200 people from Hungry Valley Park, according to the update.

Evacuation warnings have been issued for areas south of Pyramid Lake, including Paradise Ranch Estates, and residents have been asked to prepare to leave, according to Cal Fire.

“Crews are working to construct perimeter fire lines around the core of the fire,” officials said. “The aircraft are working to stop the advance but have limited visibility.”

The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a smoke advisory, warning Castaic and Santa Clarita residents to avoid physical activity, stay indoors and use air purifiers or turn on their air conditioners.
