The Mexican Monster debuted with victory at light heavyweight facing the Ukrainian former world champion, in the framework of the Gervonta Davis-Frank Martin co-main event.
David Benavidez He left the super middleweight category to make the jump to light heavyweight and beat the Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk for him interim title of the World Boxing Council (WBC), within the framework of the co-main event of Gervonta Davis against Frank Martin. I relived the best.

The fight began with an exchange of blows from both sides. Benavídez did so by attacking the lower part of the body, while the Ukrainian had good jabs. In the second, Gvozdyk was seen better trying to put his right hand in and although he managed to do it, it was not with as much power. Then, the Mexican closed the round strong with a good left hook.
A highlight for Benavídez was the third round, when with a hard left to the head, He managed to swing Gvozdyk, who was saved by the bell.
In the fifth it seemed that the Ukrainian was beginning to stand out and was trying to have the initiative, but the Mexican continued to dominate the fight.
Three minutes into the final, Benavídez had a cut on the left side of his face, the fight seemed to open up a little more and Oleksandr managed to land blows on an opponent who seemed worn out. However, neither of the two fell before time and the judges had no doubts in giving the victory to the one from Mexico in the cards (116-112, 119-109 and 117-111).
Benavidez’s triumph
