Evacuation warning issued for Point Fire in Sonoma County – NBC Bay Area

A mandatory evacuation order is in effect for residents in the north end of West Dry Creek to Fall Creek Road, and all areas west of West Dry Creek Road in that area to Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road as the Point Fire grows to 121 acres, 15 percent contained.

“You must evacuate immediately,” the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said in an alert and on social media shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Evacuation warnings had been issued on Sunday afternoon. Evacuation is now mandatory for residents of this area.

Firefighters are battling the Point Fire, a vegetation fire near Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road near Lake Sonoma in northern Sonoma County.

The fire has grown to 121 acres and is 15 percent contained, Cal Fire said. Cal Fire air tankers are helping fight the fire, which has been nicknamed the Point Fire.
