A temporary evacuation center has been established at Laguna High School, formerly El Molino High School, located in Forestville at 7050 Covey Road.

The site is an opportunity for evacuees to learn more about large animal shelter opportunities and services, said Sarah Finnigan, Sonoma County shelter and care program manager.

The county’s emergency operations center is working to open overnight shelters for evacuees, Finnigan said.

Options will be posted on socoemergency.org when available.

Finnigan said the temporary evacuation site will be open as long as necessary, but noted it’s too early to tell.

“The fire will really determine the need,” he said.

People needing assistance with animal evacuation are encouraged to call Sonoma CART at 707-861-0699 or sonomacart.org or NorCal Livestock Evacuations at 707-243-7193.
