During the Father’s Day celebration, several Colombian politicians used their online platforms to express moving and profound messages about the importance of fatherhood. Despite the different personal experiences, from the loss of their own parents to other aspects not mentioned, what stood out was the reflective and significant tone present in the messages of political leaders on this special date.
Among them, figures such as Gustavo Bolívar, director of the Department of Social Prosperity (DPS), stood out, who took advantage of the occasion to address those parents committed to their children.

“Happy Father’s Day to those men who never ignore their children and support them emotionally and financially until they can fly alone. It does not apply to those who abandoned their children and denied them affection and food, or were forced to respond to a lawsuit,” Bolívar expressed in his publication.
On the other hand, heSenator María José Pizarro, of the Historical Pact, remembered her father, the guerrilla leader Carlos Pizarro of the M-19, murdered in the past. Through a photograph shared on her networks, the congresswoman honored the memory of her father and highlighted the influence of his ideals on her own political path.
“Happy day to the parents of Colombia. Gratitude to those who have embraced, accompanied and guided me in all these years. In my walk I vindicate his ideals, that is my greatest tribute on this #Father’sDay,” said the senator.
In a more personal and nostalgic tone, Juan Manuel Galán, brother of Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán, remembered his father Luis Carlos Fernando Galán, who was assassinated in 1989. The political leader shared a photograph and paid tribute to the legacy he left.

The Colombian ambassador to England, Roy Barreras, also joined in the congratulations, highlighting the presence of the parents on such a significant day. “Congratulations to all parents and mothers/fathers, who are many on this day. In a more general, but equally moving message, Senator María Fernanda Cabal, of the Democratic Center, recognized the fundamental role of parents as pillars of society.
