How and where to apply for Young Summer 2024

For the second consecutive year you can request the Young Summer discount, approved a few days ago by the Council of Ministers. These are discounts on the price of the bus, train or Interrail for young people between 18 and 30 years old, which can be enjoyed from July 1 to September 30 of this year. Of course, the Ministry of Transport warns that sanctions may be imposed if the voucher is used improperly. We tell you all the details here:

Which are the requirements? Who can order them?

The bonuses, like last year, are free. And the requirements are: to have been born between January 1, 1994 and December 31, 2006, to have Spanish nationality or, if you are a foreigner, to have legal residence in Spain.

How can I request them?

You must access the registration page of the Ministry of Transport through the Cl@ve platform or by filling out the personal data, with the name and surname that appear on the DNI or NIE, date of birth and DNI or NIE number, and date validity

To start using the discounts on the first purchase, the beneficiary must register at least 24 hours in advance so that it can be verified that the requirements are met.

After registration, a code will be generated, which will be the one you must use when purchasing your tickets on the pages of the different transport companies. This code will be made up of the DNI or NIE number and a set of characters, which will be sent to the mobile phone or email.

Once these companies adapt their systems, discounts can begin to be requested with these codes. That is to say, although the bonuses can now be requested, companies may still take time to update their pages. Registration is free, although companies may charge management fees for issuing discounted tickets, with a limit of 1 euro per ticket.

What means of transport can I apply discounts on?

By bus, with a 90% discount for regular bus services within Spain.

By train, with different discounts:

  • Conventional medium distance services and metric gauge trains: 90% discount
  • Avant Single Titles: 50% Off
  • Long distance or high speed services: 50% discount, up to 30 euros per ticket
  • The Flexible Global option of the Interrail Pass for 10 days in 3 months, when marketed through Renfe: 50% discount on Interrail fares, with its price characteristics according to age, etc.

What are the improper uses that may lead to sanctions?

The Ministry of Transport has established different improper uses of the vouchers, which may entail sanctions, such as the withdrawal of the Registration Code from beneficiaries who accumulate more than six of these uses. In that case, the person who committed the violations will not be able to benefit again.

These are two situations: the use of this code by a person other than the registered beneficiary, since it is personal and non-transferable, and failure to cancel a formalized trip with a minimum notice of 24 hours, although the company may reduce this. term in accordance with its usual marketing practices. However, exceptions will be made available for short-term bus routes linked to mandatory mobility.
