Official: Medunjanin, from retiring in Castellón to Schreuder’s assistant
Haris Medunjaninafter hanging up his boots at the end of this season, will continue to be linked with the CD Castellonbecoming assistant coach of the first team, according to the club in a statement.
The former footballer will continue to be linked to the Castellón club, in whose team he played during his last active season, to become part of the coaching staff of Dick Schreuder.
The coach tried to convince Medunjanin to continue being active for one more season, although he decided to leave football due to injuries sustained in the second half of the championship and, finally, he has been convinced by Schreuder himself to continue working together, now in the Hypermotion League after the promotion of the ‘orellut’ team.
“The Bosnian forged a great personal relationship with the CD Castellón coach that goes far beyond the green. They met in 2019, when the Dutchman was an assistant coach at the Philadelphia Union. Subsequently, Schreuder had Medunjanin as a player in the PEC Zwolle during the 2022-2023 season and at CD Castellón in this last 2023-2024 campaign, achieving the respective promotions to the Eredivisie and La Liga Hypermotion,” the statement explains.
“At CD Castellón we are very happy to continue counting on Haris off the pitch and we wish him the best of luck in this new journey,” concludes the club.
