Cuenca joins the 20th anniversary of the Ave Cities Network

The Cuenca City Council has participated in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the creation of the AVE Cities Network, in which it is integrated, an event that was recently held in Zaragoza.

The Councilor for Tourism, Historical Heritage and Business Promotion, Marta Tirado, who participated in the Aragonese city in the Assembly, in the technical meeting and in the promotional actions that were developed, has highlighted that “we are talking about a network of up to 34 cities, with the latest addition of Gijón, connected by High Speed, with what that means in terms of communications and opportunity for economic and tourism growth.”

Tirado explained that “the celebration took place in Zaragoza because it was the city in which the Network began in 2003, with nine destinations at that time, and currently the Presidency is held by Seville”, and added that “in this forum “At work, the Tourism councilors of the different cities have exchanged experiences and put on the table the actions that have been carried out in recent years in terms of strategic plans, meetings with professionals or collaboration agreements with entities such as Renfe or Turespaña.”

In the case of Cuenca, the mayor of Tourism highlighted, “we add to the fact of having Alta Velocity our title as a World Heritage City, which makes us a highly sought-after tourist destination by combining our artistic, heritage, cultural, natural and gastronomic to the good communications we have.”
