After the inter-school event of the Ñandú Olympiad, and after training work carried out in the schools, 112 students were selected to participate in the zonal event.
The selected students come from 27 municipal schools, who stood out in solving problematic situations of combinatorics, logical mathematics and geometry, deploying their strategies and abilities, and demonstrating the hard work carried out with their peers and teachers.
The next phase of the competition will take place on June 27 at the Sagrada Familia Jesuit Institute in the city of Córdoba.
The zonal event will bring together students from various primary schools (public and private) in a competition that will once again test their problem-solving and mathematical reasoning abilities.
The main objective of the competition is to generate situations for the construction of mathematical knowledge, stimulating reasoning and the search for certain, alternative and novel solutions.
Each instance of this Olympiad also seeks the exchange of experiences between students and teachers, as well as the integration of a joint task.
The thematic blocks through which the children must demonstrate their knowledge include numbers and operations (rational numbers), simple combinatorial analysis, proportionality, geometry and measurements.
The Secretary of Education, Alicia La Terza, expressed: “We are very satisfied with the great news that has recently come to us from municipal schools in reference to Mathematics”.
The municipal schools that will be represented in this zonal instance are the schools: Alicia Moreau, Amadeo Sabattini, Ángel Nicolás Gastaldi, Arsenio Murrugarren, Azor Grimaut, Cooperativism Argentino, Dr. Carlos Becerra, Dr. Amadeo Sabattini, Dr. Carlos Fernández Ordoñez, Dr. . Cesar E. Romero, Dr. Donatto Latella Frías.

About the Ñandú Olympics
The Ñandú Olympiad is one of the Olympics that is developed through OMA (Argentine Mathematical Olympiad). It has 5 eliminatory instances, a non-eliminatory provincial instance and is divided by levels that are 3 in total.
The 1st and 2nd level cover the primary cycle (5th and 6th grade respectively) and the 3rd level includes the 1st year of the secondary cycle.
