Lorenzo Somaschinithe young 9-year-old Argentine motorcycle racer who had an accident last Friday during free practice at the Superbike Championship from Brazil last Friday, died the day before in a hospital in São Paulo.

“SuperBike Brazil announces, with great sadness and regret, the death of the pilot Lorenzo Somaschini this Monday at 7:43 p.m. (11:43 p.m. Spanish time),” says the statement released this Tuesday by the tournament organizers.

The Argentine minor had been hospitalized since Friday in intensive care at the Albert Einstein hospital in São Paulo for the blow he received on the head after the fall he suffered during a free practice of the Honda Junior Cup at the racetrack in Interlagosthe headquarters of the Formula One in Brazil.

In the statement, the organizers of the event were “dismayed” by the death of the child and noted that from the moment of the accident have provided assistance to family members of the young motorcyclist, who was treated “quickly at the scene” after the fall and taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The Honda Junior Cup, one of the most recognized youth competitions on the American continent, brings together riders from between eight and 16 years old on 160 centimeter motorcycles cubic with pedals and handlebars adapted to the size of each participant.

Somaschini, born in the city of Mendoza on July 17, 2014, was passionate about motorcycles since he was four years old and dreamed of reaching the Grand Prix and be world champion.
