Moments of tension and concern were experienced during the last hours in a neighborhood of La Plata, after a huge gas leak occurred inside a factory. With the presence of Firefighters, Civil Protection agents, police and Camuzzi workers, two blocks had to be evacuated in order to prevent any disaster.
The incident occurred in the area of 510 between 17 and 18, Gonnet, at noon and lasted for approximately three hours. As detailed to this medium, the noise from the leak was “deafening” and forced neighbors to leave their homes for fear of an eventual explosion. It should be noted that no one was injured during the operation.
In this framework, as specified, Edelap personnel had to interrupt the power supply until the situation was controlled. Once the intervention tasks are completed, investigators will try to determine the reasons that caused the incident, whether it was a “clandestine job” to connect to the network or whether it was a “fortuitous accident.”
Likewise, during the first analysis tasks, the operators verified that the factory’s gas supply was noticeably cut off.
