Given doubts that arose in Taiwan about the alleged shortage of Paraguayan meat, the Paraguayan Embassy in the Asian country issued a statement addressed to Taiwanese importers, assuring them that the protein continues to be marketed normally and that its quality is also guaranteed.
“The availability and sale of Paraguayan meat to Taiwan are carried out completely normally. Shipments continue without setbacks, thus guaranteeing the quality of the product in each delivery,” the text states, adding that the meat has rigorous health standards and that it even “continues to be a preferred option” in Taiwan.
He describes the Republic of China (Taiwan) as “a valuable and strategic trade partner” for Paraguay, which is why he emphasizes that they are “proud to be able to maintain a solid and reliable trade relationship in which Paraguayan meat has proven to be a of high demand and appreciation in the Taiwanese market.”
Finally, it urges Taiwanese importers and distributors to stay in touch with the diplomatic representation of Paraguay in that country if they have any questions, with the main objective of safeguarding their commercial activities.
“We are here to offer you all the support necessary to ensure that your business operations run smoothly and as successfully as possible,” reads the end of the text.
Rumor. Although the statement does not refer to the reason, ÚH accessed a note sent by the Paraguayan ambassador to Taiwan, Carlos José Fleitas, to the national chancellor Rubén Ramírez, where he points to a “rumor.”
“We made this note in response to the widespread rumor among Taiwanese importers of meat, which supposedly would currently be in short supply for export, due to the delay in vaccination by Senacsa,” he indicates. He emphasizes that the health entity’s response was that there is no such delay and that the refrigerators assured that they have sufficient stock for sale.
”Given the abundance of Brazilian meat supply in Popular China, other countries that have remnants of their products that were normally purchased by that nation, wish to refer them to the Taiwanese market, which is why they spread this rumor in order to harm the sale of the Paraguayan beef,” laments the ambassador.
The amount
Paraguay already exported 12,652,946 kilograms of beef to Taiwan from January to May of this year, according to Senacsa records.
