Alpine F1 Team is reinforced. The French Formula 1 team has named new CEO Flavio Briatorewho had been away from the competition for fourteen years, as confirmed by the team itself in a statement.

“The BWT Alpine F1 Team can confirm that Flavio Briatore has been appointed by Groupe Renault CEO Luca de Meo as his executive advisor for the Formula 1 division,” the company announces.

Briatore will focus on high-level areas of the teamincluding searching for the best talent and providing information on the driver market, fine-tuning the existing project by evaluating the current structure and advising on some strategic issues within the category,” the statement added.

Briatore’s return to Formula 1 coincides with a bad sporting moment for Alpine F1 Team. The French team is considering abandoning engine construction to become a client of other manufacturers, such as Honda, Ferrari or Mercedes, from 2026.

Flavio Briatore is one of the best-known faces of Formula 1. He began his journey in the championship after associating with Luciano Benetton and acquiring the clothing brand. In the team owned by Benetton he signed a young Michael Schumacher, with whom the first successes came: two drivers’ world championships and one constructors’ championship.

Briatore has won several championships alongside Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso

In 1997, he left Benetton, but returned three years later when Renault took over the team. It was then that began working with Fernando Alonsowith whom he won two world championships for drivers and another two for constructors.

In 2009, Briatore left the French team after the case exploded crashgateby which a plan was drawn up so that in the Singapore Grand Prix, the driver Nelson Piquet crashed into the wall to give victory to Fernando Alonso.

For its part, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) approved on June 6 a new regulation for Formula 1 that will come into force from the 2026 season.

The new regulations include more agile and lighter single-seaters, in addition to cutting its length by twenty centimeters and eliminating the Drag Reduction System (DRS). However, the FIA approved active aerodynamics and determined the six new constructors, including Ferrari, Mercedes, Alpine, Honda, Audi and Ford.

The electrical part gains weight in the new cars, which goes from 120 kilowatts to 350 kilowatts. Likewise, the FIA has confirmed that the fuel will be 100% sustainable, in line with its strategy of e-fuelwhich seeks to reduce its carbon footprint by 13%.
